MOTs

All vehicles over three years old require an annual MOT test to ensure the vehicle remains roadworthy.

At GT Autos we can carry out pre-MOT inspections before we test the vehicle.

If the vehicle fails the MOT we can can provide a quotations for the repair work required.

Our MOTs (up to Class 4 vehicles) cost £40, which includes a free re-test with 10 working days.

Preparing your vehicle for an MOT

Even if your vehicle is relatively new there’s always a chance that it might fail the MOT test.

Fortunately, there are a few checks that you can do to give your vehicle the best chance of passing.

Although cars and vans are tested on around 40 items, we have summarised a few quick and easy checks that you can carry out before the test that can help ensure your vehicle passes its MOT.

1. Tyres: at least 1.6mm on 3/4 of the tyre tread
2. Windscreen: check for any cracks
3. Wipers: make sure they’re not perished
4. Fuel: ensure there’s enough fuel for the test
5. Lights & indicators: check all in working order
6. Numberplate: to be clean & properly lit
7. Exhaust: check for rattles or unusual noises
8. Seatbelts: ensure they all operate as expected
9. Horn: check that it is in full working order
